BRAWL II concludes in heavy snow!

   Timber Ridge disc golf course near Bedford, VA hosted the last BRAWL tournament on Saturday, February 11.  The tournament was shortened to eighteen holes due to the snow.  The Ladies and Juniors played the red tees, while the rest of the field played from the blue tees.   The Ams, Ladies, and Juniors played the back nine first, then the front nine.  The Open division played the front nine first, then the back.

    Frank Gonzalez won the Open division on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff, beating Greg Clemons and Terry West.  Jesse Pritchard, Allison Stokes and Will Bryant won their respective divisions.

    Vince Whorley finished as BRAWL champion for the second straight year.  Gonzalez and Chris Hysell finished in the top four to earn a spot in the BRAWL finals, while Adam Vanderslice squeaked pass Clemons into the last spot.

    Jesse, Allison, and Will each captured their first BRAWL championship in the Amateur, Ladies, and Junior divisions.

"AV" dominates Skins Match!

   Adam Vanderslice won the first skin on hole 1, and then got greedy after that!  Adam won ten out of a possible twelve skins.  Each skin was worth $35; except the last hole, that was worth $38.  The BRAWL series raised $423 dollars.  The finalists played holes 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 from the blue tees.

  Adam went on to win three skins on hole 9 with a four.  Hole 10 pushed, and then Chris Hysell hit a twenty-eight foot birdie putt on hole 11 for two skins.  Hole 12 pushed, then Vanderslice won two more skins when Whorley missed a twenty foot putt on hole 14.  Holes 15, 16, and 17 pushed to set up a $140 final hole.  After the others missed their birdie putts, Adam calmly drained a thirty-five foot birdie in the wind and snow to finish off a lucrative performance. Adam won $353 and Hysell finished with $70.  Congrats to all the finalists for a great BRAWL!

Blue Ridge Area Winter League II

The Piedmont Disc Golf Club is proud to announce BRAWL II !  The league will consist of eight one-day tournaments that run on Saturdays from December 10, 2005 through February 11, 2006.  BRAWL 2006 will showcase the courses of Western Virginia including Greene County Park in Stanardsville, Walnut Creek Park in Charlottesville, Elk Creek DGC in Appomattox, Peaks View Park in Lynchburg, Fishburn Park in Roanoke, Golden Hills in Christiansburg and Timber Ridge DGC (Private) in Bedford.  The awards ceremony will be held after completion of the final tournament at Timber Ridge DGC.

     Registration ends at 9:30, followed by a brief players meeting, and tee off at 10:00 sharp.  Open $10, all other divisions $5. 

     The BRAWL is a points series with a simple format.  Four divisions will be offered (Open, Ladies Am and Junior).  We will follow the ODDS format of points. A player receives one point for entering, one point for each person beaten within your division and bonus points for the top 5 finishers (7-1st, 4-2nd, 3-3rd-2-4th,1-5th.)  ***Only a player's best six finishes may be used in the final results. 

    A portion of the entry fee at each one-day tournament will be withheld for the BRAWL.  This money goes toward a trophy for the divisional winners, free membership (or renewal) into the club of their choice (PDGC or BRDGC) for the top four Ams and a ‘Skins Match’ for the top four Open point leaders to be held at the awards ceremony.  Ace Pool will be offered for $2 with every unclaimed prized going towards final payout.
